Sher Vancouver: Jingle Bells, Sher Tells: Celebrate December with Us!
Dear Sher Vancouver Family,
As we approach the holiday season, I want to take a moment to wish each of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year filled with love, peace, and joy.
For many LGBTQ+ South Asians, Christmas can be a time of alienation and loneliness, but it is also a time when we create our own chosen families. Sher Vancouver is one such family—a vibrant, supportive, and loving community that embraces each of us for who we are.
This Christmas, let us remember that we are never truly alone. We have each other. The spirit of Christmas shines brightly in us, reflecting the kindness, compassion, and resilience that define our community. We bring hope and cheer to those around us, even as we face our own struggles. Gay, after all, means happy—and our joy is a gift we share with the world.
I hope to see many of you at the Sher Christmas Dosti Project Monthly Meet-Up at Solid State on December 21, 2024. And to those of you joining my seasonal gathering for staff, board, sponsors, donors, and key community partners, I look forward to celebrating with you.
If at any time during the holidays you feel the need for connection, my door is always open. Whether it’s to visit Grandma J, share a cup of chai, or simply chat, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Together, we can make the impossible possible.
May the holiday season fill your heart with hope, your spirit with peace, and your days with love. Remember, you are cherished, valued, and never alone.
Peace and Love Always,
Alex Sangha
