When talking to service providers about creating culturally appropriate spaces and services, Dignity Seniors Society (DSS) stresses the importance of having an inclusive human resources policy to hire and support 2SLGBTQIA+ employees and volunteers.
Research shows that residents and patients are much more comfortable if they see their sexual and/or gender identities reflected in the staff and volunteers around them.
When employees, volunteers, management, residents, and patients share similar values and beliefs, everyone feels more supported and comfortable in the system.

Volunteering is the backbone of our organization and many of those that work with 2SLGBTQIA+ older adults.
