With strict criteria, DSS accepts requests from researchers we support.

We know many of our community members are tired of “being studied,” and often tell us they participate in research but don’t see any change. We share your frustration, and it is why we exist.

However, we believe research is important to:

  • give voice and visibility to 2SLGBTQIA+ seniors;

  • highlight the unique experiences and needs of 2SLGBTQIA+ seniors;

  • develop best practices to serve the needs of 2SLGBTQIA+ seniors; and

  • create statistical data that helps governments and others fairly distribute resources.

We hope you will trust the research we offer on our website, and can participate to advance our cause.

Please contact us if you would like to join our research email list. We will send you research projects that we have assessed as relevant and trustworthy. Your participation will always be your choice and purely voluntary.

Join our partners at the Action for Reform of Residential Care BC (ARRCBC) Association in their advocacy efforts to reform long-term care in BC:

  • B.C. Seniors Week is a time to recognize and celebrate seniors in B.C., but we also need to recognize the continued plight of our most vulnerable seniors living in long- term care (LTC) homes.
    The need for reform of the LTC system remains urgent as resident quality of life continues to be compromised by staffing issues, the lack of continuity of care and little meaningful activity. You can change this.

ARRCBC partnered with the BC Association of Social Workers on a campaign to improve quality of life for residents in long-term care (LTC) through comprehensive system reform.
