The Ageing Matters report issued June 2024 is based on issues raised to new Seniors Advocate Dan Levitt during his ‘listening tour’ in April 2024. Mr. Levitt travelled throughout BC meeting with seniors in both rural and urban communities to hear their concerns, and met with local seniors’ service providers, volunteers and other stakeholders to learn about gaps, barriers and suggestions for improvement. The purpose of this consultation was to gather information to increase understanding of the experiences of older adults who are Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex, or who use other terms related to gender and sexual diversity (2SLGBTQI+) and living at home. Status: closed - this consultation ran from May 1, 2024 to July 17, 2024.

Tell the Government of Canada to #Act4QueerSafety!

Dignity Seniors Society (DSS) has signed on to the #Act4QueerSafety campaign led by Momentum Canada, which identifies six calls to action for the Government of Canada to address rising anti-2SLGBTQIA+ hate.
